The beauty that lies behind those green eyes

Short reviews about a couple of movies I have seen lately. To start off with, Get Smart (2008) is a mix of Austin Powers and a bad hiphop group. The trailer was interesting and I kind of looked forward to see it. However, the movie was a disappointment with a couple of scenes that actually had good comedy. Don’t even waste your time! Grade: 4 of 10.
Next up, Taken (2008) is basically about a daugheter’s kidnapping and how the father (a former agent) try to get her back from the kidnappers. This movie really shows why you should never let your children get out of sight or why you need sometimes, as a father or mother, be overprotective. Sorry for the spoiler! Loaded with a lot of action, good humor and exciting scenes in USA/France. I really enjoyed this movie. Grade: 8 of 10.
Now, the movie everyone has been waiting for; Harold & Kumar - Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) was really funny in its comedy but had unfortunately a very predictable storyline based on Harold & Kumar - Go to White Castle (2004). Kal Penn who plays Kumar has always been a favourite of mine, especially for his role in House MD - Season 4 as Dr. Lawrence Kutner. Grade: 7 of 10.
Finally, In Bruges (2008) is a movie about hit men (Colin Farell and Brendan Gleeson) who travel to Bruges in Belgium in order to execute a hit. However, their view of life start to differ. You usually don’t see Colin Farell use his Irish accent, but in this movie I enjoyed it a lot. Great storyline, good comedy and action but sometimes prolonged. Grade: 7,5 of 10.
